(1803-1836)
Born, raised and educated in the northeast, Pollard migrated down to Texas, taking part in the Gonzales cannon battle. Stephen F. Austin named him surgeon of the regiment in October 1835. Pollard served under Col. Neill's command at the Alamo then continued under Travis. More than likely, Pollard was killed as he helped defend the Alamo's hospital in the final battle.
Pollard shares the distinction (along with Crockett, Bowie and Travis) of having had his portrait done from life.
