Jacob Darst
(1793-1836)
Born in Kentucky, Darst lived in Gonzales. He was married with two children, arriving in DeWitt’s Colony in 1831.
Darst was one of the original ’Old Eighteen’ defenders of the Gonzales cannon (’Come and Take It!’) in 1835. He was with the Gonzales Ranging Company. On March 1, 1836, he entered the Alamo with his company.
