(1808-1836)
Twenty-eight years old at the time he died at the Alamo, Washington was the son of Andrew and Margaret Bridger Washington. He came to Texas with fellow defenders Daniel Cloud, Peter Bailey, Archer Thomas and William Fontleroy. He was sworn into the Volunteer Auxiliary Corps of Texas in January of 1836. He travelled to the Alamo as a member of Harrison’s company, arriving there by February 9.
Washington may also have gone by the name of James Morgan.
