The son of John and Martha McCoy, Jesse was an original settler of the DeWitt Colony. He came from Missouri to Texas on March 9, 1827. On February 23, 1836 he was accounted as a member of the Goonzales Ranging Company. He came to the Alamo with this unit on March 1, 1836, to die in the battle of March 6.
